CAIR-MA Co-Organizes “We Are Americans” Event at Vandalized Mosque

This past Wednesday, November 4th, the Massachusetts chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, in coordination with the Islamic Center of Burlington, organized a “We Are Americans” event at the Center as a response to recent vandalism (read the full account of the vandalism here).

Participants placed white posters on the walls above the graffiti, which had read “USA,” and altered it by adding their own messages such as “We Are USA,” “We Love USA,” and “USA, Our Home” (see video of the event here).

The event was attended by over 100 members of the local Burlington community, including State Representative Ken Gordon, Burlington Police Chief Michael Kent, the President of the Burlington Chamber of Commerce, and leaders from nearby Christian and Jewish congregations.  All gathered to show their support and reaffirm the mosque’s place in the community.
